"How Much do you Spend on Advertising?"

                      Moderator's Comments

Hi all,

I've begun building a new E-Marketing Resource Center, including
links to all of my own hot spots for marketing info and/or tools
relating to the web, e-mail, newsgroups, the media, freebies, etc.
I think we can all put our heads together and make this upcoming
resource as comprehensive as they come, so,
 your best online
marketing resources and I'll add them into the appropriate
categories as they arrive.

And now for some great news. I have persuaded George Matyjewicz,
"Rainmaker Extraordinaire" and Managing Partner at GAP Enterprises,
Ltd., to take on the role of
Guest Moderator all next week. He will take the helm beginning
immediately after this issue of the EMD is sent out, and will
continue until next Friday's issue is assembled and e-mailed.

Some other readers have expressed an interest in Guest Moderating
this list for a week, but I have since changed computers and it
would be simpler for all those who would like to GM to contact me
again at .

Last call for responses to the current Question of the Week. If
you want to participate you have until 5PM eastern time (US)
today. There will be a new Question of the Week, and I will
post the results of this week's Question beginning next Monday.

George, take it awayyyyy.....

Subject: Introduction and Newsletter Offer

Fellow EMD subscribers -

Well, I've been subscribing to this excellent list for some
months now and I suppose it's high time I introduced myself.

My name is Rick Smith and I'm a recovering EMD subscriber.
Seriously though. This is a great list with quality content and
Gary does a great job of moderating it. (Keep up the good work
Gary! And BTW, belated congrats on the grand baby.)

I've just been enjoying reading everyone's posts that I never
bothered to introduce myself. I keep myself pretty busy by
being involved with two companies at once.

The first company writes, (mainly I write ), custom software
for the wholesale/distribution industries. We have a software
package that we wrote for the fundraising industry, (candy and
gift wrap to non-profits), that we keep busy supporting during
this time of year.

The second company, Guerrilla Computing, helps companies
competition-proof themselves by showing them how to use their
computers as the powerful marketing tools that they are.

In fact, I'd like to make an offer to the subscribers of this
newsletter. I recently started a free e-zine, "How to Use Your
Computer Like a True Guerrilla". As you might guess, the zine
focuses on using your computer as a marketing weapon. We have
a few hundred subscribers but I'd like to expand the subscriber

If you'd like to subscribe to the newsletter send an e-mail to
 with the words "subscribe news",
(without the quotes), in the subject or the body. (See Gary?
I used your "mailto" tip.)

Thanks for the pat on the back, Rick. And thanks on behalf of my
grandson, too. He's now about a month and a half old. He spent
a few hours here last night while the 'kids' went to the
Fryeburg Fair for a while.

Anyway, enough prattling.  On with the tip;

Any clickable e-mail address can have the subject automatically
included using the same tag you use when coding HTML. Yours would
read like this;

This makes it easy to filter your subscribers to the right
mailbin as they come in.

Subject: Re: Adobe PageMill and other editors

        Claudia L'Engle Hafling;

Adobe PageMill is a good editor, but we, here at
Cyberary Interactive, use Symantec's Visual Page
product. We even like it better than Claris's Home
          Page product.

Also we downloaded a great new Web Publishing
Kit called Downbeat v.1.01 Sunday and it's cuts
the time it takes to code web pages. It supports Drag
'N Drop and has the best WYSIWYG editor we have
used recently. The only drawback is the price is close
to $600. You can check out the demo at
