B is for Brevity

I think that instead of having a required word length on English
papers, in which students are inspired to write about what
happened on their very, very, very, very, very, very nice winter
break during which they got presents from Santa that they really,
really, really, really, really, really liked such as a red bike
with two wheels and a brown, fuzzy bear with two arms and two
legs and little glass eyes and...well you get the idea.

Instead of this, I think that teachers should ask students to
describe as much as possible in as few words as possible.

'Christmas was everything Iíd hoped for and more.'

I tell this story because it holds true with your email
communications. In fact, it probably holds more true for email
than for any other form of marketing. Thereís so much information
being transmitted through email that even the very finest opt-in
isnít always read. The solution is brevity. The way to be brief
is this:

Be picky about the information you present.

    Be concise in your presentation.

Be precise with your choice of words.

Pack as much as possible into as small a space as possible in
your email marketing communications and reap the rewards of the
strong customer relationships that come along with having the
reputation of always presenting email communications that are
comprised of clear, straightforward information.

Just to prove that I mean it, Iíll take my own advice right here:

The end.

eMarketing solutions
by Rajesh Menon

Dear surera,

I think this is by far the biggest problem being faced by
webmasters worldwide and propably one of the easiest to solve.
Depending on which country you hail from, I am sure there are
several on-line e-marketers out there who would eagerly jump and
the possibility of gaining a new client ! I know I would if you
were here in India !!!

Anyway, I would suggest you do a search through any of the
popular search engines. Most of the good ones would have done the
neccessary thing to ensure that their name is thrown up in the
top 5-10 no matter how you search. Anyway it would not be a
terrible good idea to hire an on-line marketer who does not
understand the need or benefit of good search engine positioning
!! Try it....and let me know what happens.

Last issue Mukesh Thomas Varghese asked about eonomical marketing
methods;

Dear Mukesh,

welcome to e-marketing. Looking for economical and effective
solutions...try some e-mail marketing. Now depending on what
dkind of software products you have developed, your e-mail
marketing solution could be managed. I don't remember exactly ,
but I think the emd had some kind of article posted once which
talked off what all one could do. Maybe you could check on their

Hi Simon:

We did a marketing engagement for a company that developed a
series of communities for "Virtual Trade Communities." One of
the things we did was a press release which had some excellent
results. See
http://www.gapent.com/pr/results-vtc.htm

As part of that release, they identified a number of virtual
trade communities which may help:

Water Online (water/wastewater) http://www.wateronline.com
Pollution Online (pollution control)
http://www.pollutiononline.com
Public Works Online (public works) http://www.publicworks.com
Solid Wastes Online (solid waste) http://www.solidwaste.com
Engineers Online (engineering) http://www.engineersonline.com

Hello, my name is Alexandra Arnold and I'm project manager for
Folio Z, The Technology Marketing Authority.

Founded in 1986, we have launched, branded and promoted more than
200 technology companies and products worldwide. Folio Z is a
full service 4 A's agency, a division of the Washington based

strategy and execution), The Messaging Workshop TM , and the
Green Banana TM program.

To find out more call Caroline Amory, principal, at 404-879-2000
or email Caroline at camory@folioz.com
. Visit our website at www.folioz.com .

A couple questions I have regarding eMarketing:

    1. Is there a specific direction we should focus on beginning
our email marketing? Do we introduce ourselves or treat
prospects as if we know them?

2.What is the rate at which we will email blast our target,
once a month, twice a month, once a quarter? Does it depend
on the target (B2B, B2C) or on the response from the first
    email blast?

Thank you for your time and your service,

Alex

Market Analysis Company
Andreas Kolind

My name is Andreas Kolind and I'm a Senior Analyst in the CRM
team of a market analysis company. My interest in emarketing is
based not only on what people areand should be doing, but also
what the implications for this are for other areas. For example,
how does online marketing effect a companies existing marcoms and
operations processes. What steps can be taken to encourage
consumers to engage more with a company (i.e. the psychology and
human computer interaction side of things). I think there are
many neglected areas of online marketing discussions, in
particular because so much 'general' information is available
online already. However, it is communities like these, where the
knowledge of many is far greater than the knowledge of one, that
bring up many of the issues I've mentioned. Thanks.
