Hi Everyone,

I finally decided to install the copy of Broadc@st HTML I
downloaded a couple of weeks back and give it a shot. Boy, am I
glad I did! This software is excellent, and I've only begun to
scratch the surface of its capabilities. Great product.

Download a free 15-day trial, full featured version of Broadc@st
HTML at the following eMarketing Digest affiliate's link;

http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/mailwork/t.asp?id=1009

As always, this issue contains a bunch of great stuff, but rather
than go on about it here I'll just ask that you please take the
time to visit this issue's sponsors, "Broadc@st HTML" and
"Webbers Communications Search Engine Positioning", as it is our
advertisers who keep the eMD a free resource. You may follow
links to our sponsors from their links in each issue of the eMD,

G is for Gift

Think of email marketing like you think of gift-giving. When you
give a gift, the purpose is to make the recipient happy... to
give them that thing that they want to receive and are happy to
hold. Make the writing that is your email communication so
important, well-written and easy to absorb that it is like a gift
to your recipients.

How can you ensure that your writing is clear and concise?
There’s a beautiful shaker song that goes like this:

‘Tis a gift to be simple, ‘tis a gift to be free, ‘tis a gift to
end up where we want to be.

Think about this ‘gift-giving’ approach in your email marketing
program:

 * Be simple: Use headers for sections of text to break up the
copywriting in your email newsletter. You can write the same
content in five one-hundred word articles as you can in one
five-hundred word article. However, your readers are more likely
to read the simple approach of five easy one-paragraph articles
that they can easily digest and process.

 * Be free: Don’t charge for your newsletter. There are a few
subscriber-based services out there, but my advice is to offer
the email newsletter (or email discussion list) at no charge in
exchange for your target audience’s precious attention.

 * End up where you want to be: that ain’t the trash bin! A neat
trick for getting filtered into your recipient’s in-box is to
always have a subject line start with the same word or letters.
A trick to doing this is (and branding while you’re at it) is to
automatically insert the name of your company or publication
before the actual subject content in your subject line.

What simple and free email marketing program will you deliver to
the in-boxes of your target audience this year? Focus on their
needs and you’ll find out that email marketing is the gift that
keeps on giving.

re: eMarketing Services? [Response to Alex @ Folio Z]
by Clint Kaiser

There are a lot of options for a company looking to outsource
their email marketing programs - the right one for you depends on
a number of variables including:

    - services provided (list rental, consulting, list mgt)

    - product capabilities (types of tracking, reporting
    abilities, targeting options)

    - pricing

    - customer service level

    - types of mailings you will be doing (newsletters,
    confirmations, ecommerce)

    - goals of your program

    - frequency of mailings...and so on

Companies that provide a wide range of services/functionality
include Digital Impact, Netcentives and ClickAction. More basic
options include SparkLIST and SharpTrader. This is by no means a
comprehensive list. There are a lot of other quality options
plotted on the service/functionality vs cost matrix, but they are
too numerous to mention here unfortunately.

re: eMarketing Services?
by Rob Yarlett

I am currently dealing with a company called e2 communications
www.e2communications.com . I have not got to the point of signing
up with them yet but they offer a service that manages all the
tricky stuff with emails including the Text Vs HTML issue that
was discussed in the last issue. They also monitor the leads
generated by the email. This would leave me free to focus on the
marketing of the campaign.

As I said, I have not yet decided whether to go down this road if
anyone has experience of this company I be interested to hear it.

good luck
